beats, rhymes & life

Yes, a white kid from the suburbs can like hip-hop, and I love me some Tribe Called Quest. Arguably, the creators of the best “real hip-hop” ever released. So much better than most of the garbage on the radio these days parading through the genre. Tribe’s music was raw and real, combining a message and story that played to rhyme and reason in a way that you can’t help but smile and nod your head to the beat. I was hooked when I first heard The Love Movement back in my high school days. Needless to say, I can’t wait to see Michael Rapaport’s new documentary, Beats, Rhymes & Life.

From what I’ve heard, this is a great documentary that has appeal for everyone, not just the fans. At least that’s what I’m sticking to, otherwise I’m going solo! Now if only they would schedule some screenings in SD… The “S” in SD doesn’t stand for skip!
